Turkey announced the resumption of the grain corridor on the eve of the talks in Istanbul

After Ukraine announced that Russia blocked the work of the grain corridor and refused to register ships, yesterday Turkey announced its success in resuming the work of the initiative, reports the Turkish Anadolu Agency. Sources in the country's Ministry of Defense announced this information on the eve of the new meeting of the country's delegations, which will be held in Istanbul on May 10-11.

During May 1-7 (the 40th week of operation of the grain corridor), the volume of agricultural products exported from the sea ports of Odesa decreased in comparison with the previous week by 10% to 404 thousand tons, which is the lowest weekly shipment during the entire period of operation of the grain corridor.

During the specified period, only 11 ships were loaded, as in the previous week. These vessels have completed loading, but are still awaiting the inspection required to continue sailing.

The main export items for the 40th week of operation of the grain corridor were:

  • wheat - 41% of all shipments,
  • corn - 40%,
  • sunflower oil - 13%.

The buyers of Ukrainian agricultural products were the countries of Asia (China, Turkey and Bangladesh), Europe (Spain and the Netherlands) and Africa (Tunisia and Morocco).

In general, during the entire period of operation of the grain corridor (from August 1, 2022), as of May 7, Ukraine exported 29.7 million tons of agricultural products through it.
