Turkey opens a quota for the import of 3 million tons of corn with a reduced duty, which will contribute to increased demand in Ukraine

According to ASAP Agri, the Turkish TMO has announced a quota for the import of 3 million tons of corn with a reduced duty of 5%. The quota is planned to be valid from April 20 to July 31, 2026.

Domestic corn prices in Turkey have risen sharply, so traders are waiting for the government to react. Last year, the quotas offered were used very quickly, but now the quota volume is much larger, so there is a possibility that it will not be fully used. However, local prices and demand for corn are expected to decline.

According to estimates by Turkish traders, corn imports could amount to about 2 million tons by the end of July, including volumes already sold but not yet shipped.

As of April 17, Ukrainian corn on a CIF Marmara basis is offered at a price of $255-266/t.

According to experts from Sunseenman, from October to February of the 2025/26 season, Turkey imported 1.46 million tons of corn, including 0.91 million tons from Ukraine. These are official net import volumes that do not take into account transhipment flows or corn stored in bonded warehouses.

From October to March of the 2025/26 season, Ukraine officially exported 3.7 million tons of corn to Turkey (compared to 2.9 million tons for the same period of the previous season). This figure takes into account re-exports via Turkey.
