Tunisia and Jordan purchased wheat and barley at tenders at prices significantly lower than in September

The Tunisian State Grain Agency (ODC) purchased 100,000 tons of common wheat and feed barley in an international tender on October 28.

Wheat was purchased in four batches of 25 thousand tons:

• two lots from Cargill at prices of $296.1 and $298.75/t C&F,
• one at Souflett at $304.89/t C&F,
• one at Dreyfus at $303/t C&F.

Wheat is to be delivered between December 1, 2026 and January 10, 2027, and the average purchase price was $300.69/t C&F, which is $12.2/t C&F lower than the price of the previous tender on September 23.

Barley was also purchased in batches of 25 thousand tons:

• two lots from Bunge at $293.25 and $293.62/t C&F,
• one at Souflett at $291.73/t C&F,
• one at Dreyfus at $292.94/t C&F.

Barley is to be delivered between November 20 and December 30, 2026, and the average purchase price was $292.88/t C&F, which is $12.8/t C&F lower than the price of the previous tender on September 23.

It should be noted that again, one of the conditions of the tender was a ban on suppliers citing any force majeure circumstances related to the difficult situation in the Black Sea that could make deliveries impossible.

The Jordanian Public Procurement Agency (MPA) purchased about 60,000 tons of durum wheat (out of a planned volume of 120,000 tons) from CHS in an international tender on October 27, with delivery to the port of Aqaba on February 1-15, 2027, at a price of $313.75/ton C&F, which is $18.05/ton lower than the price of the September 22 auction, where 50,000 tons of wheat were purchased. Wheat was also offered in the tender by Ameropa ($329.77/ton) and Cargill ($317.48/ton).

And at an international tender on October 28, MIT purchased about 60 thousand tons of feed barley of any origin from Al Ghurair for delivery in the first half of January 2027 at a price of $292.25/ton C&F, which is $26.25/ton lower than the price of the September 9 auction, where 50 thousand tons of barley were purchased. Barley was also offered at the tender by Bunge ($297.7/ton C&F), Dreyfus ($298/ton C&F), and Olam ($297.44/ton C&F).
