Rates of sowing of winter crops in Ukraine is higher than last year
Ukrainian farmers continue to harvest late grains and oilseeds.
As of 20.09.17 square 2,155 million hectares (36% of the plan) collected 3,976 million tonnes of sunflower with a yield of 1.84 t/ha. the Pace of the harvesting campaign lower than last year by 17% and the average yield is 13% less.
Soybean 453,7 thousand hectares (22.8% of the plan) collected 790,9 thousand tons with a yield of 1.74 t/ha On the same date last year was threshed by 31% of the area more, which collected 43% more soybeans with yields above 17%.
Corn 203 thousand hectares (out of a planned 4.5 million ha) produced 936 thousand tons with a yield of 46.1 t/ha In 2016, with 4,237 million hectares were collected 28 million tons of grain.
Exports of corn increased from 17,409 million tons in 2015/16 to 20,703 million tonnes in the 2016/17 season.
Precipitation, past Ukraine, added to moisture reserves and contribute to winter crops. Next week established warm and dry weather, which will speed up the harvest.
Domestic farmers actively carry out sowing of winter crops. As 20.09.17 them sown of 1.78 million hectares, which is 25% of the planned 7,238 million hectares, whereas on the same date in 2016 was planted 1,397 million hectares, the sowing of 27.4% higher than last year.
On a specified date sown winter crops:
- wheat and triticale 1,677 million hectares (27% of the plan) against 1,319 million hectares in 2016,
- barley 40 thousand hectares (4% of plan) compared to 28, thousand hectares in 2016
- rye 63 thousand hectares (39% of plan) compared with 51 hectares in 2016
- rape 752 thousand hectares of the planned 777 thousand hectares.
