Winter crop sowing rates in Ukraine in September are lower than last year

According to operational data from the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, as of September 15, 262.6 thousand hectares or 4.8% of the forecast (5.424 million hectares) were sown with winter grain crops in Ukraine.

 

Let us recall that as of September 16, 2024, 360.3 thousand hectares or 6.9% of the planned area was sown with winter grains in Ukraine.

 

Currently, on the specified date, winter crops have been sown:

  • wheat – 248.1 thousand hectares or 5.2% of the forecast (4.778 million hectares);
  • barley – 9.3 thousand hectares or 1.6% of the forecast (576.1 thousand hectares);
  • rye – 6.5 thousand hectares or 9.4% of the forecast (69.3 thousand hectares).

 

Farmers in 18 regions of Ukraine are currently sowing winter grains.

 

At the same time, sowing of winter rapeseed continues in 23 regions, with 790.9 thousand hectares already sown, or 71% of the forecast (1.114 million hectares). As of September 16, 2024, 688.4 thousand hectares or 61.3% of the forecast (1.123 million hectares) were sown with winter rapeseed in Ukraine.
