The rate of corn exports from Ukraine is gradually increasing

During May 1-9, Ukraine exported 232.6 thousand tons of corn, 55% of which was transported by rail and 41% by sea. This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy with reference to the UAIS "Delivery Control".

Also for the specified period were exported:

  • wheat - 8.68 thousand tons (56% by sea),
  • barley - 2.57 thousand tons (92% by rail),
  • sunflower seeds - 60.68 thousand tons (57% by sea),
  • soybeans - 21.71 thousand tons (63% by sea),
  • sunflower oil - 38.8 thousand tons (38% by tanker),
  • soybean oil - 3.62 thousand tons (59% by rail),
  • pulp of oilseeds - 32.24 thousand tons (46% by sea).

In general, on May 1-9, 61% of the total domestic exports of grain, meal and vegetable oils were transported by rail, while 29% were transported by sea. In April, 3.5 million tons of cargo were transported by rail across the western borders, the Ministry of Infrastructure said. Railway operators are creating border terminals for cargo handling and transshipment from wide to narrow gauge and vice versa.

Customs procedures and a small number of veterinary inspectors at crossing points complicate shipments and limit the capacity of Ukrainian-Polish crossings.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine announces the signing of an agreement with Poland to simplify veterinary control and increase the number of inspectors, which will increase the volume of Ukrainian grain exports.
