Prices for Ukrainian food wheat in the port of Constance are gradually increasing

According to APK-Inform, during the week, purchase prices for Ukrainian food wheat of grades 2 and 3 in the Romanian port of Constanta increased by $7-10/t to $245-255/t DAP against the backdrop of a logistical collapse and an increase in world prices.

The main reason was Ukraine's exhaustion of quotas for duty-free wheat supplies to the EU, which caused purchases at the western border to stop, and export flows to be redirected through the Danube port and the port of Constanta, which, in the context of the blockade of Ukrainian Black Sea ports, became the only possible hub for loading large-tonnage vessels.

Logistics through the Danube ports is complicated by low water levels, constant shelling from the Russian Federation, and a queue of over 50 vessels near the Sulina Canal, which leads to increased downtime fees and increases the priority of the DAP Constanta base.

Additionally, prices are supported by rising world prices on exchanges, a shortage of high-quality food wheat, and importers' willingness to pay high logistics costs.
