Sunflower prices in Ukraine remain under pressure from falling export prices for sunflower oil

The drop in sunflower prices in Ukraine slowed somewhat last week, but the gradual decline in export prices for sunflower oil is forcing processors to further lower purchase prices for raw materials.

Currently, prices for sunflower with delivery to the plant are 25,000-26,000 UAH/t.

In the near future, export demand for Ukrainian sunflower may grow, as Turkey will cancel the duty on sunflower seed imports within the quota (which is currently 8%) and reduce the duty on imports outside the quota from January 1 to April 30, 2025.

In addition, the sunflower export licensing regime is being canceled in Ukraine, which will be replaced by a minimum price mechanism. At the same time, the licensing regime remains valid for exports to Bulgaria and 4 other EU countries.
