Prices for flax seeds in Kazakhstan are decreasing in all supply directions
According to the Grain Union of Kazakhstan, during May 11-17, flax seed prices continued to decline in all supply directions, the Agro-Industrial News agency reported.
In the domestic market, prices on an EXW basis decreased by an average of 2 thousand tenge/t to 228-233 thousand tenge/t or $485-495/t.
Export prices for brown flax (97% purity) also decreased:
- based on FCA Kazakhstan – by $5/t to $520-525/t,
- on DAP Poland - by €5/t to €550-555/t.
In Iran, prices for Kazakh flax for shipment in June-July decreased by $10/t to $680-684/t on a C&F ARAG basis, amid significant supply from suppliers from Kazakhstan and Canada.
In China, flaxseed prices fell by 50 yuan/t due to reduced demand and increased supply from Kazakhstan, Canada and the Russian Federation. Domestic prices are 4700-4950 CNY/t or 690-726 $/t, while prices on a C&F Tianjin port basis have fallen to 3750-4050 CNY/t or 550-594 $/t.
Prices for Kazakh flax on a DAP Dostyk/Altinkol basis decreased by $10/t to $544-550/t.
Flax prices in Kazakhstan rose to 230-240 thousand tenge/t in early March, remained stable throughout March and April, but began to decline in early May. At the same time, export prices continued to grow.
Recall that in the first half of the 2025/26 MY, Kazakhstan exported a record 900 thousand tons of flax, of which 41% was purchased by China and 25.5% by Belgium.
