World grain production in FY 2024/25 will be only marginally lower than the previous season's record

According to the new forecast of UN FAO experts, the world grain production in 2024/25 MR will amount to 2.848 billion tons, which will be only 0.4% less than the record figure of the previous season (2.859 billion tons).
At the same time, world wheat production will amount to 792.2 million tons, which will be the second largest historical indicator. This will be facilitated by good weather and an increase in production in Asian countries, which will make it possible to compensate for the reduction of the harvest in the main producing countries in the EU.
The volume of production of feed grains will decrease from a record 1.535 billion tons in 2023/24 MR to 1.517 billion tons, which will also be the second largest indicator. Corn production will decrease the most in this sector due to adverse weather conditions.
World grain trade volumes will decrease by 3.9% compared to FY2023/24 to 485 million tons, especially wheat and feed grain trade, while rice trade will grow.
Compared to the previous season, world final grain stocks will grow by 0.6% to 889 million tons, in particular, rice - up to 205.4 million tons, feed grains - up to 368.5 million tons, while wheat stocks will decrease to 314.8 million tons t.
