Dry weather and high prices stimulate planting of winter wheat
the Shortage of rainfall has delayed planting of winter wheat in the United States, Ukraine and Russia, whereas in Germany and France the powerful rains in September prevented the sowing.
According to the weekly crop tour USDA, as of November 1, winter wheat in the United States planted 89% of the planned areas compared with 85% a week ago 88% a year ago and 86% on average for 5 years at that date. Shoots were obtained on 71% of the area compared to 62% a week ago. The number of crops in good or excellent condition for the week increased from 41% to 43%, whereas a year ago the figure was 57%. After precipitation, the recent dry and warm weather next week will allow you to complete sowing, but much of the sowing area of winter wheat in the United States will not change.
In Ukraine as of November 2 winter planted 7.5 million hectares or 91% of the planned areas, in particular:
the
barley – 867 hectares, or 92%,
the rye – 118,8 thousand hectares or 89%,
rapeseed – 862,8 hectares, or 85%.

Recent rains have improved crop condition, but in the South there is a deficit of moisture.
Russia planted winter crops 18.8 million hectares, or 98.1% of the planned areas. In the southern regions southern and North Caucasus districts the weather will allow us to continue planting in November, although there remains a shortage of moisture. In Siberia and the Urals on most fields at the end of October the snow cover reached 5 cm, in some regions few weeks of rains.
Experts to SovEcon reported that Russia may lose 10-15% of winter wheat crop from drought in the major regions of its cultivation. Over the next weeks not predict rain, and in the case of frost, which traditionally starts in mid-November, a significant part of the crops, especially in the Central regions, may die. For reference, the level of the death of winter for the previous 5 years was 2.7-8,7% or 4.8% on average.
