Rental rates for railway transportation in Ukraine have stabilized

Freight rates for rail transportation have stabilized, and on the most efficient routes have even decreased somewhat due to an increase in the number of wagons used by carriers, Spike Brokers reports.

Currently, the cost of rail transportation is:

  • Kharkiv region — Danube ports — $50-60/t;
  • Lviv region — border with Poland — $25-32/t;
  • Lviv region — border with Hungary — $26-34/t;
  • Lviv region — Odesa — $39-44/t;
  • Rivne region - border with Poland - $25-30/t;
  • Rivne region — Odesa — $39-45/t;
  • Kharkiv region — border with Poland — $45-50/t;
  • Kyiv region — border with Poland — $20-23/ton.

Export transportation by rail through the western borders in the direction of Europe is an average of 387 wagons/day, and the volume of exports in this direction in December may reach 600-700 thousand tons.

"Ukraine sends about 200 European trains to the EU borders every day. The unloading capacity of wagons in the ports of Great Odesa is on average 930-950 wagons/day, and the average daily number of wagons moving in the direction of the Black Sea ports has increased to 7,658 wagons," UZ reports.

However, the constant attacks of the Russian Federation and storms in the Black Sea hinder the increase of transshipment in ports and exports.

Since January 1, Ukrzaliznytsia has increased car rental rates (compared to December) without VAT:

  • wagons of conventional type 972 for the transportation of flour and grain trucks - from UAH 1,150 to UAH 1,250/day,
  • tanks for the transportation of food products - from 1,600 to 1,700 hryvnias/day,
  • semi-wagons - from 1,300 to 1,400 hryvnias/day.
