Freight rates from Danube ports to Egypt increased by almost $20/t in a week

According to ASAP Agri analysts, during the week, freight rates for sea transportation of grain by barge from Danube ports to Egypt increased by $19/t to $65-67/t.

The general situation on the Ukrainian freight market has hardly changed during the week. Handysize owners refuse to operate from the ports of Greater Odessa. Instead, demand and freight rates for cosers are growing rapidly.

The greatest demand is for transportation from Danube ports to Egypt, so the cost of freight on this route has increased twice as much as on other routes.

According to estimates by the freight department of Atria Brokers, the cost of transporting a 6,000-ton consignment of corn from Ukrainian Danube ports to Egypt currently reaches $65-67/ton.
