Freight rates for panamax transportation of corn from Odesa to China increased by $12-13/t
During the week, freight rates for the transportation of grain from the river ports of the Danube and by handsizes from the deep-water ports of Odessa continued to fall, while the cost of transportation by panamax increased, Atria Brokers reports.
As of November 23, rates for the transportation of corn by coasters of 6,000 tons from the ports of Reni and Izmail have decreased:
- in the direction of the eastern coast of Greece by $3-4/t — to $32-35/t,
- Spain — by $3/t to $45-46/t,
- of Spanish Seville — by $2-3/t to $48-50/t,
- of the eastern coast of Italy — by $2-3/t and $40-42/t,
- Israel — by $2/t to $43-48/t,
- of the Eastern Mediterranean — by $2/t to $38-40/t,
- Marble — by $1/t to $30/t.
The rates for barge transportation of corn to Constanta decreased by €4/t to €21-22/t, and sunflower - by €1-2/t to €40/t.
The cost of transporting corn from the ports of Odesa in handy sizes has decreased:
- to Italy — by $1-2/t to $42-43/t,
- to the Mediterranean coast of Egypt — by $1-2/t to $40-41/t,
- to the Mediterranean coast of Spain — by $1/t to $44/t,
- to Tunisia — by $1/t to $45-46/t.
At the same time, freight rates for the transportation of corn by panamax from the ports of Great Odesa to China increased by $12-13/t to $72-75/t against the background of the acute shortage of the panamax fleet in the Mediterranean and the increase of rates in the neighboring segments of the freight market, which increased competition.
