Sowing of spring grains in Russia and Kazakhstan 16% slower togoro

Adverse weather conditions are slowing spring grain sowing in Russia and Kazakhstan, which can cause reduction in acreage of barley and wheat. The rate of sowing area of oil crops is much ahead of the forecast.

In Russia as of June 1, spring crops were sown 79.7 per cent from the forecast of 42.6 million hectares 46.2 million hectares in 2017.

While spring grains and leguminous crops sown 78.6% of the forecast of 24.4 million hectares (compared to 28.3 million hectares in 2017), in particular:

the

barley 6.8 million hectares (88.5 per cent) compared with 7 million hectares in 2017;

corn, 2.5 million ha (82,9%) against 2.9 million hectares in 2017

rice 159,9 thousand hectares (up 86.8%) against 167,1 thousand hectares in 2017.

• wheat 9.4 million hectares (73% of the forecast) as opposed to the 12.3 million hectares in 2017;

Also sown:

the

soybeans 2.3 million ha (85,4%) vs 2 million hectares in 2017;

summer rape, 1.2 million ha (110%) against 815,4 thousand hectares in 2017

len 33,5 thousand hectares (75,8%) compared to 33.6 thousand ha in 2017

sugar beet 1.1 million ha (103.4 percent) compared to 1.2 million hectares in 2017.

• sunflower 7.4 million ha (98,2% of the forecast) against 6.9 million hectares in 2017

In Kazakhstan as of 30 may spring grains sown of 10.16 million hectares (out of a planned 14,130 million hectares) against 12,137 million hectares in 2017. Oilseeds planted 86.7% of the forecast of 2.35 million hectares to 2 million hectares in the same period in 2017.

In Ukraine by June 1, spring grains and leguminous 7.1 million hectares or 97% of the planned 7.4 million hectares.
