Sowing of spring crops in Ukraine is proceeding much slower than last year

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, as of April 17, 1.247 million hectares or 22% of the planned 5.681 million hectares for sowing were sown with spring grain and legume crops in the country, while last year, on this date, 2.053 million hectares or 36.7% of the planned 5.601 million hectares were sown with spring crops.
On the specified date, the following was sown:
- wheat – 169.4 thousand hectares or 74% of the forecast,
- barley - 656.2 thousand hectares (85%),
- peas – 189.4 thousand hectares (87%),
- oats – 139.5 thousand hectares (87%),
- corn – 69.5 thousand hectares (2%),
- millet – 1.3 thousand hectares (1.6%),
- other grain and leguminous crops – 21.9 thousand hectares (20%),
- sunflower - 244 thousand hectares (5% of the planned 5.063 million hectares),
- soybeans – 16.1 thousand hectares (0.7% of the planned 2.411 million hectares),
- sugar beets - 142.6 thousand hectares (56%).
