Saudi Arabia purchased 985,000 tons of new crop wheat at a higher price than in the March tender
Last week, the General Authority for Food Security of Saudi Arabia (GFSA) purchased 985,000 tons of food wheat for delivery in July-August 2026 at an international tender (where it was planned to buy 710,000 tons) at an average price of $276.93/ton C&F, which is slightly higher than the price of the previous March tender, where wheat for delivery in July was purchased at a price of $270.5/ton C&F Jeddah port.
The tender offered wheat grown in the EU, the Black Sea region, North and South America, and Australia. Sellers were given the option to choose the country of origin.
Due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the purchased grain must be delivered to the ports of Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea coast.
In particular, 4 batches of wheat, each weighing 60,000 tons, and two batches of 65,000 tons, are to be delivered to the port of Jeddah at prices ranging from $274.33/ton to $277.54/ton C&F.
Three batches of wheat of 60 thousand tons each and five batches of 65 thousand tons are to be delivered to the port of Yanbu at prices ranging from $275.33/ton to $278.33/ton C&F.
Two batches of wheat, each weighing 55,000 tons, are to be delivered to the port of Jizan at a price of $280.95/ton C&F and $285/ton C&F.
