Vessel traffic through the grain corridor has resumed, but Russian inspectors continue sabotage

According to the UN report, the work of the grain corridor from the ports of Ukraine has not yet fully resumed, but the UN and Turkey are cooperating with other parties in order to remove all obstacles that hinder the work of the grain initiative.

"According to the data provided to the SCC by the Ukrainian delegation, there are 54 vessels in the queue to enter the ports of Ukraine, 11 of them have submitted applications for registration to the SCC," - reports the UN.

However, on May 25, the SCC did not register a single new vessel, and on May 26, it approved only 2. Currently, there are 13 vessels under loading in the ports of Ukraine - 6 in Chornomorsk and 7 in Odesa. Average daily inbound and outbound inspections fell to 3.2 vessels per day in May, the lowest since August 2022, when the grain corridor became operational.

It is worth noting that Russian representatives, without any explanation, refuse to inspect ships bound for the port of Pivdenny, thus trying to force Ukraine to resume transit and export of Russian ammonia.

After a long break caused by the sabotage of the grain corridor by Russian inspectors, two vessels with Ukrainian agricultural products left the ports of Great Odesa on May 28. The bulk carrier ELEFSIS with 64,000 tons of corn left the port of Chornomorsk for the Bosphorus, and the dry cargo XIN SHUN with 19,500 tons of barley and 44,000 tons of corn left the port of Odessa. In addition, on this day, three more vessels entered the ports of Ukraine for loading - two in the port of Odesa and one in the port of Chornomorsk. Currently, there are 12 ships in these ports for loading.

Even the low number of court actions allowed international traders to resume the purchase of agricultural products in the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk, although the purchase prices remain quite low, and farmers are not satisfied.
