Russia has been blocking the entry of ships to the port of Pivdenny for almost a month

Despite the resumption of the work of the grain initiative, the Russian delegation as part of the SCC continues to block the entry of ships to the deepest sea port of Ukraine - Southern, - reports the Ministry of Reconstruction of Ukraine.

On May 19, 3 vessels moving to the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk for loading were inspected, while the Russians refused to register and inspect vessels to the Southern ports unilaterally and without explanation. On May 20, Russian inspectors agreed to inspect 7 ships that planned to enter the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk, but conducted only 2 inspections. The ships declared for the Southern port were again deleted both from the registration and from the inspection plan. On May 21, only 4 inspections were planned, which again did not concern ships to the South port, the agency reports.

The Russian Federation has been pursuing this policy since April 29, as a result of which more than 1.5 million tons of agricultural products have accumulated in the port of Pivdenny for loading on 26 ships that are awaiting permission in Turkish territorial waters to deliver food to 10 countries around the world.

Due to the shortage of ships, the Port of Pivdenny is currently closed. In fact, Russia is blocking his work, which is another violation of the terms of the grain agreement. In this way, the Russian Federation limits the effectiveness of the grain agreement and the supply of food to other countries, since the South is the largest port in terms of throughput, and blocking it will significantly reduce the volume of exports.

The Ministry of Reconstruction of Ukraine hopes that the partners in the grain agreement will be able to resolve the situation, otherwise Ukraine will be forced to state that the initiative does not work according to the terms of the agreement signed by all parties.
