The Russian occupiers stole more than $600 million worth of grain and oil from Ukraine

During the discussion "100 days since the invasion of the Russian Federation: the current state and prospects of food security and agricultural markets in the world", experts of the KSE Institute Center for Food and Land Use Research reported that the Russian invaders stole grain, oil crops and oil from Ukraine in the total amount of more than 600 million $. There is more and more evidence of Russians exporting grain from the occupied regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Before the start of the military aggression, domestic prices in Ukraine corresponded to world prices. However, the naval blockade of ports disrupted supply chains. If with the beginning of the war world prices for grain rose sharply, then in Ukraine they fell significantly. According to experts, as of May, prices for wheat, barley, corn and oil were 33.7% lower than before the invasion.

Currently, KSE Agrocentr experts estimate the losses and damages caused by the war to the agriculture of Ukraine at $27.6 billion. In particular, indirect losses due to the blockade of seaports of Ukraine amount to $11.9 billion, due to a decrease in production - $9.6 billion. Losses due to unharvested winter crops and destroyed equipment amount to $1.4 billion and $926 million, respectively.

In addition, granaries with a total capacity of 4 million tons have been destroyed or completely destroyed in Ukraine. Another part of granaries are located in the occupied regions, so there is no full access to them.
