The Russian Federation is trying to stop the export of products from Ukraine with missile attacks on ports

On the evening of October 20, explosions rang out in Odesa, resulting in fires, including in the port area.

Before that, the Ukrainian Armed Forces warned the Ukrainians about the detected high-speed target in the direction of the Odesa region.

We will remind that on October 18, Russian rockets damaged a three-story building and 10 private houses in Odesa. And the day before, from October 6 to 10, as a result of a missile attack on ports, three foreign ships were damaged and people died.

But so far, such shelling has not led to an increase in the cost of freight and insurance payments, which could affect the purchase prices of agricultural products.

According to broker Atria Brokers, the freight market in Ukraine remains active, there are orders for transportation both from deep-sea ports and from Danube ports. The scarcity of coasters allows their owners to raise rates and dictate their terms. At the same time, the supply of handysizes is sufficient to meet current needs, so their freight rates remain stable.

Currently, the market rates are:

  • for panamax for the transportation of wheat or corn from the deep-sea ports of Odessa to China - $50-52/t,
  • on handsizes for the transportation of corn from deep-sea ports to the east. coast of Italy - $25-26/t,
  • on coasters for the transportation of corn from the Danube ports to the east. coast of Italy – $34-36/t (+2 $/t).

Barge freight rates for the transportation of corn from Reni or Ismail to Constanta remain at the level of 9-10 €/t.
