Wheat in Ukraine becomes more expensive due to record exports and dry weather
As of 21.06.2017 year Ukraine sold on world markets is 43.02 million tons of grain by 5.01 million tons higher than the results of the similar period of last year.
the Export of wheat in comparison with the previous season increased by 0.87 million tonnes to 17.3 million tonnes.
In 2016, Ukraine has collected 66 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, particularly wheat and 26.8 million tons.
carry-over stocks at the beginning of the new season are projected at 4.6 million tons, including wheat – 1.5 million tons.
According to the USDA estimations, in 2017/18 MG yields of Ukrainian wheat will be compared to 3.79 t/ha, which is 9% less than last year, but 5% higher than the average five-year average. The wheat harvest will be 1.8 million tons less than last year and will reach 25 million tons.
In the Central and southern regions of Ukraine reigns drought. According to estimates of the Department of agrometeorology "of the Ukrainian hydrometeorological", because of the lack of moisture in some areas could be affected up to 10% of winter grain sowings.
Due to the increase of wheat prices on the global market and forecasts to reduce production of wheat, the price of wheat of the new harvest on the basis of CPT-port increased by 2-3 $/t to level:
- 2 grade protein 12.5% 158-162 $/t;
- 3 grade protein 11.5% 157-159 $/t;
- feed 149-151 $/t
