The President of Ukraine signed the law on criminal liability for smuggling

The President of Ukraine signed the law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on December 9, 2023, which amends the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes of Ukraine regarding the criminalization of smuggling and false declaration of goods and excise goods (register 5420).

From July 1, 2024, the new law introduces criminal liability in the form of a fine of 170-425 thousand UAH for smuggling goods worth from 7.57 to 15.14 million UAH, and from a fine of 850 thousand UAH to imprisonment for 11 years with confiscation of property for smuggling goods worth more than UAH 15.14 million.

Smuggling of excise goods with a value of 1.136 to 2.271 million UAH is punishable by a fine of 340,000 UAH to imprisonment for up to 6 years, and with a value of more than 2.271 million UAH - from a fine of 1.275 million UAH to imprisonment of up to 12 years with confiscation of property .
