Dry weather in Ukraine and the Russian Federation continues to worry traders

In the USA, Canada and Western Europe, favorable rains for crops have passed, but dry weather in the Black Sea countries reduces the potential of the future harvest.

Favorable weather remains in the Midwest and US Plains, and rains forecast for the next few days will slow down planting, but will replenish moisture and improve crop condition. Farmers are actively sowing spring wheat and corn between rains, so they can finish the work next week. Normal temperatures will help crops develop in the near future.

In the Canadian prairies, intermittent rains delay planting. Next week, the front will bring another wave of rain and cooler temperatures, delaying planting but improving prospects for canola and wheat crops in drought-stricken areas.

In the south of Brazil, heavy rains are delaying the harvesting of soybeans, which in general in the country have been threshed on 96% of the area, while the corn of the first crop has been harvested on 75% and the harvesting of the second crop has already begun. Next week, rain will spread further north where second-crop maize is grown, improving crop conditions, but the main producing state of Mato Grosso will remain dry.

In Argentina, dry and cold weather in the next 7-10 days will speed up the harvesting of soybeans and corn, but possible frosts will negatively affect the sowing and rooting of winter wheat.

Much of Europe will continue to see rain next week, particularly in France and Germany. Excessive moisture against the background of low temperatures will have a negative effect on crops. Rains are also expected in the east of Europe, where there is still a deficit of precipitation.

Much of Australia will see good seeding rainfall next week. Water temperatures in the Pacific Ocean will approach a favorable La Niña scenario over the next few weeks, increasing the likelihood of precipitation needed for winter crops.

In the Black Sea countries - Ukraine, Romania, Moldova and the south-west of the Russian Federation, dry hot weather prevails, which reduces the potential of the harvest and remains the main factor supporting wheat quotations on world exchanges. Rainfall was significantly below normal in April and May, and next week a front from Western Europe will bring rain and lower temperatures to Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and parts of Ukraine.

In the European and Asian parts of the Russian Federation, dry and warm weather is expected in the next 7-10 days, favorable for the completion of sowing, which was delayed by frost and rain. In the North Caucasus, Western Siberia and the Primorsky Krai, heavy rains will have a favorable effect on spring wheat crops. However, dry weather without precipitation in the Black Sea regions of winter wheat cultivation reduces the yield potential.
