Drought in Ukraine, Brazil and part of the Russian Federation can significantly reduce the cultivated area

Traders' attention is focused on the weather in Ukraine and the south-west of the Russian Federation, where dry and hot weather prevents the sowing of winter rapeseed and wheat. In addition, increasing heat in central Brazil will not allow soybean sowing to start on time.

In the Black Sea countries last week, dry and hot weather continued to reduce the potential of soybean, corn and sunflower crops, which have already begun to be harvested. Minor thunderstorms occurred in some areas.

In Ukraine, the lack of soil moisture reserves delays the sowing of rapeseed. In the next 10-14 days, heat at 25-30 o C without precipitation is expected, which will not allow to sow rapeseed at the optimal time and will worsen the condition of early crops.

In the northern and central regions of Brazil, dry weather prevails with temperatures above 30-35 o C, and precipitation is not expected there for 10-14 days. In the second half of September, the rainy season should begin, but the delay in precipitation will not allow to increase the sowing area and obtain a record soybean harvest, which the USDA estimates at 169 million tons. In the south of the country, low temperatures negatively affect winter wheat crops, especially against the background of moisture deficit.

In Argentina, frost and dry weather are slowing down the development of winter wheat crops. Farmers are starting to plant corn, but a lack of rain could slow down operations.

In the Midwest and the Southern and Central Plains of the United States, moderate temperatures and periodic precipitation favor the development of soybean and corn crops, as well as the planting of winter crops.

Canada's prairies were hit by rain last week, halting the harvest of peas, wheat and canola. Temperatures will rise next week, which will speed up harvesting.

In most of Europe , especially in the eastern regions, dry and hot weather worsens the yield potential of late crops. Next week, the west of the region will cover the front with precipitation, but it is unlikely to reach the eastern areas.

In Australia, periodic rains promote the development of crops of winter wheat, barley and canola.
