US corn shipments to the EU hit record high

According to USDA, in 2024/25, the US increased corn exports to the EU by 87% compared to the previous season, to a record 2.7 million tons.
This season, the EU became the fourth largest buyer of American corn (9% of total exports), behind only Mexico, Japan and Colombia, while over the past 10 years, the EU's share did not exceed 1%.
Experts from S&P Global Commodity Insights believe that the increase in corn supplies from the US to the EU was contributed by a decrease in production in Ukraine and currency fluctuations, which increased the competitiveness of American corn compared to Brazilian corn.
But now American exporters remain uncertain about further supplies amid tariff disputes between the US and the EU.
