Egypt became the main importer of Ukrainian wheat in the 2025/26 MY

In two months of the 2025/26 MY, Ukraine exported 1.456 million tons of wheat, which is 28% lower than the corresponding figure of the previous season, when 2.026 million tons of grain were delivered to foreign markets, reports APK-Inform , citing official statistics.

Almost all major buyers reduced imports of Ukrainian wheat, with the exception of Egypt, which almost doubled its imports to 699 thousand tons and became the largest buyer at the start of the new season.

Compared to the same period last year, wheat imports from Ukraine decreased:

• Indonesia - by 13% - up to 528 thousand tons,
• Vietnam by 17% to 314 thousand tons,
• Algeria – by 28% to 268 thousand tons,
• Spain (which was the leader in purchases in the first two months of the 2024/25 MY) – by 69%, to 243 thousand tons,
• Yemen - by 24%, up to 126 thousand tons,
• Thailand – by 26% to 120 thousand tons,
• Italy - by 42% to 66 thousand tons,
• Tunisia - by 62%, up to 49 thousand tons,
• Israel - by 33%, up to 48 thousand tons.
