Precipitation in South America and the USA, as well as dry weather in Ukraine and the Russian Federation will affect grain markets next week

Increased rains in central Brazil and Argentina are helping to accelerate soybean and corn plantings, reducing speculative prices, while warm, dry weather in the US is helping to harvest late crops and plant winter wheat ahead of forecast rain.

In the east of Ukraine and the south-west of the Russian Federation, dry weather has a negative effect on the sowing of winter crops, but no rain is expected there in the next 10-14 days.

According to the data of the Ukrhydrometeorological center, in most of the territory of Ukraine, effective rains replenished the reserves of productive moisture in all soil layers. Only in some areas of the Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, soil drought persisted due to a lack of precipitation. On October 20, in the areas where the rains passed, the upper 0-10 cm of the soil was strongly or well moistened for a long time. Temperatures close to normal contributed to the massive germination of winter wheat, sown at the beginning of October, but due to the cooling and night frosts, seedlings appeared only in places. The phase development of winter crops is 2-3 weeks behind the long-term average terms, so its condition and winter resistance will depend on the weather in autumn and winter, especially on the amount of precipitation.

In central Brazil, the rainy season is underway, prompting the planting of soybeans and corn, although rainfall is still below normal. At the same time, the intensity of rains is much higher in the southern regions, so sowing there is almost complete.

In Argentina, heavy rains eased drought conditions in wheat and corn crops and replenished moisture reserves ahead of soybean planting that begins in November. Rains in the next 10-14 days will improve harvest prospects.

Dry weather in the Midwest and U.S. Plains has a negative impact on winter wheat crops, but has accelerated planting and harvesting of soybeans and corn. The region will experience heavy rains next week, which will replenish moisture reserves and improve the condition of plants.

Excessive rainfall continues in northwest Europe and Italy, delaying the harvest and sowing of winter wheat. According to forecasts, the rains will continue next week. At the same time, the east of Europe suffers from a lack of moisture, which is necessary for the rooting of winter crops.

Eastern Australia has experienced heavy rain that will continue into next week and improve prospects for wheat, barley and canola crops. But in some areas there was no precipitation, which may reduce the harvest, which will begin to be harvested in November - December.
