New export routes will allow Ukraine to boost sales of grain

the Export grain potential of Ukraine in 2016/17 MG is estimated at 43.7 million tonnes, of which wheat accounts for 16.5 million tonnes of barley and 5.3 million tons, corn – 20,9 mln tons.

Within 7 months of the current season exported 27.1 million tonnes of grain and products of its processing, which is 12,3% higher than in the same period last season. In particular, wheat exports increased by 15.8% to 13 million tons, barley – by 14.1% to 4.5 million tons of corn by 5.9% to 9.2 million.

the Main consumers of Russian wheat remain Egypt, India and Indonesia, corn on China and Egypt, barley – Saudi Arabia and Libya.

Through world overproduction of grain and the increased competition Ukraine has reduced exports of wheat to Egypt, Thailand and Spain.

For the 1st half of 2016/17 MG Thailand has reduced the purchase of Ukrainian wheat from 1.6 million tons in 2015/16 to 1.4 million., Spain – 276 to 827 thousand tons, Egypt – from 1.3 to 1.06 million. On grain exports to Egypt is influenced by periodic changes in legislation regarding the content of ergot in imported grain, and increased competition from Russia.
