Despite the snow and frost, farmers threshed another 100,000 hectares of corn in a week, but 9% of the crops remain unharvested

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, another 107.4 thousand hectares of corn were threshed in Ukraine during the week. In total, as of January 8, 28.661 million tons of corn were harvested from 4.001 million hectares or 91% of the projected area, with an average yield of 71.6 centners/hectare.

Thus, on the specified date, 58.815 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were threshed from 11.118 million hectares (95% of the planned) in the country with an average yield of 52.9 centners/hectare, and the total harvest of grain, leguminous and oilseed crops reached 76.27 million tons.

The following number of late crops have been collected so far:

• corn — 28.66 million tons from 4 million hectares with an average yield of 7.16 tons/hectare;
• sunflower - 9.28 million tons from 4.84 million hectares with an average yield of 1.92 tons/hectare;
• soybeans — 4.85 million tons from 2.04 million hectares with an average yield of 2.37 tons/hectare;
• other grains and legumes - 957.1 thousand tons from 334 thousand hectares.

In addition, as of January 6, 11.02 million tons of sugar beets were harvested from 199.1 thousand hectares (100% of the planned amount) with an average yield of 553.6 centners/hectare.

The largest number of unthreshed areas remains in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions.

Currently there are collected:

• in the Dnipropetrovsk region: soybeans – 63.1% of the area, corn – 74%, sunflower – 78.9%;
• in the Kharkiv region: soybeans — 76.4% of the area, corn — 43%, sunflower — 81.7%;
• in Zhytomyr region: soybeans — 98.7% of the area, corn — 88%, sunflower — 97.5%;

Farmers in Vinnytsia, Zakarpattia, Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odessa and Khmelnytskyi regions have fully completed the harvest.
