In the spring of 2022, the main grain-exporting countries have favorable weather conditions for sowing and ripening, and the upcoming rains will improve harvest prospects.

In the United States, heavy rainfall in early April significantly delayed the sowing campaign, but now the rate of sowing has accelerated significantly. Thus, 86% of the planned areas were sown with corn (87% on average over 5 years), 66% with soybeans (67%), and only 73% (92%) with spring wheat due to unfavorable weather on the northern plains.

In the Midwestern United States, heavy rains amid high temperatures have contributed to the development of soybean and corn crops, although delaying sowing in some areas. In the northern plains, rains have replenished soil moisture, but delayed the sowing of spring wheat, and new rains are expected next week. In the southern plains, heavy rains reduce droughts and promote spring crops, but will no longer be able to improve the condition of winter wheat.

Canada is accelerating sowing, and next week's rains will improve the drought-affected areas of autumn and the prospects for canola and spring wheat.

In the Black Sea region during the week there will be rains, which against the background of moderate temperatures will contribute to the formation of a good harvest. At the same time, there is a shortage of precipitation in some areas, so in the absence of rain, yields may decrease.

Heavy rains have passed in Ukraine , but in the south and in the center there is still a shortage of moisture, but against the background of low temperatures the development of crops is normal. Sowing of spring crops is coming to an end. As expected, sunflower and corn sown areas fell by 20% due to fighting and rising fuel and fertilizer prices.

In the south of Brazil there are heavy rains, which will soon reach the central regions, which will improve the condition of second-harvest corn crops. StoneX experts yesterday increased the estimated soybean harvest in the country in 2021/22 MY by 1 million tons to 124.4 million tons (135.84 million tons in 2020/21 MY) compared to the previous forecast. At the same time, the forecast for maize production increased by 0.3% to 116.8 million tons, including first-harvest corn - by 0.5% to 26.4 million tons, and saffron corn - by 0.2 million tons to 88.3 million tons .
