The Ministry of Agrarian Policy held a meeting with farmers on speeding up the movement of vessels along the grain corridor

Yesterday, at a meeting of the Coordination Council on Logistics in Agriculture, chaired by the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine M. Solskyi, representatives of Ukrzaliznytsia, the Ministry of Infrastructure, associations ACC, EVA, UZA, UKAB, VAR and other participants of the grain market discussed the issue of accelerating exports and reducing downtime vessels as a result of the artificial delay of inspections by Russian representatives as part of the SCC, as well as the coordination of actions of market participants regarding the staging and loading of vessels in order to reduce the time they stay inside the country.

In 2023, the average number of inspections was 2.5 vessels/day, compared to 3.5 vessels/day in December. Now 117 ships with Ukrainian grain have accumulated in the queue, and every day of downtime lowers purchase prices and increases the losses of farmers.

The participants of the meeting proposed to change the rules for forming a queue for inspection in the Bosphorus, to increase the minimum tonnage to 25 thousand tons, to introduce long-term planning of the work of terminals and operators to provide customers with a real line-up of ships.

Given the complexity of the situation and the need for detailed elaboration of the proposals, it was decided to hold an extraordinary meeting of the Coordination Council to agree on this issue.

Representatives of agricultural associations criticized the intentions of Ukrzaliznytsia to ban the transportation of grain by private semi-wagons, so the company promised not to introduce such a decision. It was also suggested to review the minimum price level of UAH 2,795/day set for UZ auctions for the use of UZ grain trucks.

We will remind that in January 2023, Ukraine exported 5.5 million tons of grain and oil crops and their processing products.
