The dollar on the interbank market stabilized at the level of 28,3-28,35 UAH/$

during the week the dollar against the hryvnia rose on the interbank market only for 5 kopecks and stabilized at the level of 28.35 UAH/$ by reducing demand for the currency and increase its revenues from exporting. The previous week the national Bank to support the hryvnia has spent 8.7 million $, now with the same purpose, it sold only $1 million.

According to the NBU, since the beginning of the year, the regulator acquired on the interbank market 4509,4 $million,and sold – 3584,1 $ million, making the net purchase of currency by the national Bank in 2020 amounted to 925,3 $million.

on Friday the dollar on the interbank market increased slightly by increasing purchases of foreign currency by nonresidents through Citibank taken out of investments in hryvnia resources. The national Bank even had to go to the sale currency at the rate of 28.38 UAH/$ to curb the appreciation of the dollar.

during the week the rate will remain at the same level owing to uncertainty through the second wave of the pandemic Covid-19 and implementation in Ukraine and other countries new quarantine restrictions that will reduce business activity and purchasing power.

This will reduce the demand for foreign currency from importers, and maintain it will be only non-residents who will try to withdraw funds abroad. The inflow of foreign currency will be very significant, because the export of agricultural products, particularly corn, soybeans, sunflower oil and meal remains quite active.

in the Near future will increase the influence on the hryvnia political factors – elections to the local councils and delay consideration by the Verkhovna Rada of the draft budget for 2021.

a meeting of the Budget Committee, which had to approve the amendments to the draft budget for consideration at the session of 15 October was not held due to lack of quorum because of the 36 members of the Committee attended only 11. It is therefore possible that the first reading of the draft on 20 October, as required by parliamentary rules, will not.
