South American countries may increase rapeseed production to 1.6 million tons in 2026/27 MY
According to Oil World's forecast, in 2026/27 MY, South American countries may increase rapeseed production to 1.6 million tons compared to 1.1 million tons in 2025/26 MY and 0.7 million tons in 2024/25 MY.
The largest increase in rapeseed area was in Uruguay, up to 340,000 hectares, which will allow the country to harvest a record 600-620,000 tons of oilseed. Brazil increased its area to 370,000 hectares, from which it plans to harvest 600,000 tons of rapeseed, which will significantly exceed last year's harvest of 343,000 tons.
Against the backdrop of increasing rapeseed production, Brazil has sharply increased its processing, which will allow it to increase rapeseed oil exports to 50-80 thousand tons in the 2026/27 MY.
In July of this year, Brazil shipped the first relatively large shipment of rapeseed oil, 6,000 tons.
