China has expanded the list of goods that it can import from Ukraine

It regulates veterinary, sanitary and phytosanitary requirements for supplies to China of peas and wild-caught aquatic products (fish and seafood caught in natural waters).

In recent years, Ukraine has been steadily increasing pea production. In the 2023/24 MY, it amounted to 409 thousand tons, and in the 2024/25 MY it may reach 476 thousand tons. The main buyers of domestic peas are Turkey, India, Italy, Malaysia, the UAE, and China, which is actively increasing purchases.

In 2024, domestic commercial fish catch increased by 6.2% compared to the previous year to 11.9 thousand tons, catch outside the jurisdiction of Ukraine doubled to 19.9 thousand tons, and the export value of fish products increased by 80.3% to $56.3 million.

Increasing supplies of Ukrainian agricultural products to the Chinese market is a strategic step to strengthen the economy and expand sales markets. China is one of the world's largest importers of agricultural products, so increasing exports in this direction will not only increase foreign exchange earnings for Ukraine, but also strengthen its status as a reliable supplier of quality agricultural products to global markets.

Recall that Ukraine signed the last contract with China 5 years ago, so the new agreement was a step towards resuming cooperation.
