Jordan purchased another batch of barley at a low price, which continues to put pressure on the prices of the new crop in Ukraine

According to market operators, the Jordanian state agency MIT purchased about 50 thousand tons (out of the planned 120 thousand tons) of feed barley from Al Dahra in an international tender on June 4, for delivery on September 1-15, 2025, at a price of $229.25/ton C&F, which is slightly lower than the price of the previous week's tender, where 50 thousand tons (out of the planned 120 thousand tons) of feed barley were also purchased.

The bid prices at the tender remained at the same level as last week - Dreyfus offered barley at $234/t (+1 $/t compared to last week), Olam - at $234.4/t (+2 $/t), Viterra - at $238/t (-2 $/t), CHS - at $231.98/t (-3.8 $/t), Bunge - at $233.85/t, but the buyer managed to lower the price again.

Forward prices for Ukrainian barley remain at $185-190/t for delivery to Black Sea ports in July, despite pessimistic forecasts of a reduced harvest in the new season.

According to the forecast of the Minister of Agriculture of Ukraine V. Koval, barley production in Ukraine in 2025/26 MY will decrease to 4.5 million tons (compared to 5.8 million tons in 2024/25 MY and 6.35 million tons in 2023/24 MY), which will be significantly lower than the USDA forecast of 5.7 million tons.

Feed grain prices remain under pressure from rising production of soybeans and soybean meal, which is used for feed, as well as forecasts of increased global corn production, so barley prices will remain under pressure from falling export demand.
