Jordan purchased 60,000 tons of wheat cheaper than three weeks ago
According to traders, in an international tender on April 7, Jordan purchased 60,000 tons of food wheat from the Bulgarian company Buildcom for delivery in the second half of July at a price of $275.95/ton C&F (including freight).
Wheat was also offered in the tender by Bunge, CHS, Cargill, and Ameropa, but their bid prices were higher.
Recall that at an international tender on March 17, Jordan purchased 60,000 tons of milling wheat of any origin from CHS for delivery in the first half of June at a price of $277.50/ton C&F.
The country continues to actively replenish grain reserves against the backdrop of stable demand and fluctuations in world prices.
Last week, a group of Thai feed producers purchased 60,000 tons of feed wheat, presumably of Australian origin, from SVN in a tender for delivery in June at a price of $274/ton C&F, Reuters reports.
Wheat prices in recent importer tenders have remained stable or even declined despite rising oil prices and the Iran war, which has led to higher freight costs. However, markets are hoping for lower fuel prices and are reluctant to overpay for wheat, especially given the large supply.
