The European Commission lowered the forecasts for the rape and corn harvest for the EU

The experts of the European Commission reduced the forecast of rapeseed production in 2024/25 MR by 0.3 to 19.1 million tons (19.7 million tons in 2023/24 MR), and corn – by 0.6 to 68.6 million tons, which will exceed last year's indicator by 9%, and the average 5-year indicator - by 3%. At the same time, imports are expected to decrease compared to the current season from 20 to 17.4 million tons.

 

The forecast of the soft wheat harvest in the EU in 2024/25 was left at the level of 120.2 million tons, which will be 4% less than last year's figure, and 5% less than the 5-year average. The export forecast was left at the level of 31.1 million tons compared to 33 million tons in 2023/24 MR.

 

The barley harvest forecast was also left unchanged at 7.1 million tons, which would be 21% higher than last year, but 2% lower than the 5-year average. And the export of barley can amount to 10.3 million tons.

 

It is expected that the sunflower harvest in the EU in the 2024/25 FY will be 10.6 million tons, which will be only 0.1 million tons less than the 2023/24 FY.
