The European Commission lowered the forecast for the EU grain harvest in 2026/27 MY, but raised estimates for oilseeds
European Commission experts have lowered their forecast for EU soft wheat production in the 2026/27 marketing year from 127.3 to 126.9 million tonnes compared to their April estimates, down from 135 million tonnes harvested in the previous season, Reuters reports. At the same time, they left the wheat export forecast at the previous month's level of 29.65 million tonnes.
The corn production forecast was also lowered from 61.2 to 60.35 million tons, and barley from 52.9 to 51.75 million tons.
At the same time, compared to the previous month, forecasts for the production of major oilseed crops have been increased, in particular rapeseed - from 20.8 to 20.85 million tons (20.2 million tons in 2025/26 MY) and sunflower - from 8.8 to 8.9 million tons (8.7 million tons in 2025/26 MY).
