The European Commission has lowered its forecast for the EU grain harvest, but it will still be 9% higher than last year's.

The European Commission has lowered its forecast for grain production in the European Union in the 2025/2026 marketing year from 282.9 million tons to 278.4 million tons, which will still be 9% higher than the previous season (255.2 million tons).

Thus, the forecast for the soft wheat harvest was reduced from 128.2 million tons to 127.3 million tons, for corn - from 64.6 million tons to 60.1 million tons, while the forecast for the barley harvest was increased to 53.6 million tons.

According to the European Commission's estimates, grain exports compared to the previous season will increase from 36.4 to 45.4 million tons, in particular soft and durum wheat - from 25 to 30.7 million tons, due to which grain imports will decrease from 31.8 to 25.7 million tons, in particular wheat - from 10.3 to 5.4 million tons.
