The European Commission plans to continue the liberal trade regime of agricultural products with Ukraine

Yesterday in Brussels, at a press conference after the meeting of the EU Council of Ministers on Agriculture and Fisheries, Belgian Deputy Prime Minister David Clarinval announced that soon the European Commission will submit proposals for extending the regime of liberalization of trade in agricultural products with Ukraine.

"The European Commission will soon submit a proposal for the continuation of trade liberalization measures with Ukraine, as the EU countries show solidarity with Ukraine and expect information on the continuation and prospects of long-term trade relations with it," explained Clarinval, who is responsible for the agriculture sector.

He also noted that individual countries have concerns about the liberal trade regime, but during the presidency of the EU, Belgium will maintain a stable position and give preference to pan-European solutions.

"We believe that EU member states should not solve this problem on their own. The European Union must preserve the single market and continue to provide Ukraine with important and substantial assistance," the Belgian vice-prime minister stressed.
