Export prices for barley in Ukraine increased by 500 UAH/t in a week

The 2025/25 barley season in Ukraine began with a “battle” of international traders for the first volumes delivered to ports.

Against the background of information about low yields and the need to form the first export batches, exporters increased prices for feed barley every day, and within a week export prices increased by 400-500 UAH/t to 9400-9500 UAH/t or $198-200/t with delivery to Black Sea ports.

Such a crazy price increase usually forces farmers to refrain from active sales in anticipation of further price increases, so they sell grain only in small batches. It should be noted that the quality of barley is quite high, and the first batches had a grain weight of 630-650 g/l, which means that even in the south, the yield is not as bad as in the southeast of Ukraine.

The first threshings in the Mykolaiv region showed low yields at 1-1.5 t/ha, while in the Odessa region the first yields were 2-2.5 t/ha.

World corn prices continue to decline, and recent tenders showed that South Korean importers purchased feed corn at a price of $236/t for delivery in September, so we should not expect further growth in feed barley prices above the level of $200-205/t for delivery to ports in the coming months.

Thanks to mild weather and periodic precipitation, the barley harvest in Ukraine will be at the predicted level, so as the harvest moves north and supply increases, prices will stabilize at these levels.
