Export of agricultural products from Ukraine in the first half of January decreased by 30% compared to December

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in the first 15 days of January, Ukraine exported 2.3 million tons of agricultural products, which is significantly lower than the 3.6 million tons shipped in the 18 days of December.

So, in January, export volumes decreased:

  • corn - by 500 thousand tons to 1.1 million tons,
  • wheat - doubled to 437 thousand tons,
  • barley - by 26 thousand tons to 72 thousand tons,
  • sunflower oil - doubled from 303 to 148 thousand tons,
  • sunflower - from 230 to 93 thousand tons,
  • rapeseed - 4 times to 44 thousand tons,
  • meal - by 53 thousand tons to 199 thousand tons.

At the same time, soybean exports increased by 39,000 tons to 199,000 tons, while soybean oil remained at 11,000 tons.

In the general structure of exports, the shares of various types of agricultural products were distributed as follows:

  • corn – 48.29%,
  • wheat – 18.76%,
  • Shroty - 8.56%,
  • soy - 8.54%,
  • sunflower oil – 6.36%, sunflower – 4%,
  • barley - 3.11%,
  • rapeseed - 1.89%,
  • soybean oil - 0.47%.

Moreover, 1.7 million tons of agricultural products were exported in January through sea and river ports, 486 thousand tons by rail, 166 thousand tons by road, and 18 thousand tons by ferry.

In total, since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has exported 41.3 million tons of agricultural products, including 16.7 million tons of corn, 9 million tons of wheat, and 3.4 million tons of sunflower oil.

The decrease in export rates is due to the deliberate delay by Russian inspectors of the inspection of vessels bound for the Black Sea ports of Ukraine.

From January 9 to 15 (the 24th week of operation of the grain corridor), 491,000 tons of agricultural products were exported from the sea ports of Odesa, which is 20% less than the previous week's figure and 2.4 times the maximum weekly figure.

In total, 17.4 million tons of agricultural products were exported through the grain corridor from August 1, 2022 to January 15, 2023.
