Experts of the Ukrainian Grain Association summed up the results of the 2025/26 season

According to UGA estimates, in the 2025/26 MY (which ended on June 30), Ukraine exported 41.1 million tons of grains and oilseeds, while in the 2024/25 MY their exports amounted to 46.7 million tons, and in the 2023/24 MY – 57.5 million tons.

The reduction in exports is due to a decrease in the harvest, the introduction of quotas on wheat imports to the EU, as well as logistical problems caused by constant attacks by the Russian Federation on energy and transport infrastructure, in particular ports and terminals.

The rise in world prices for oil and coal also somewhat complicated exports through the deep-water ports of the Odessa region, but despite all the challenges, Ukraine continued to export grain and support the food security of many countries around the world.

According to UGA estimates, in the 2025/26 MY, grain and oilseed production increased compared to the previous season from 79 to 80 million tons, and opening stocks from 7 to 7.4 million tons. Due to reduced exports, opening stocks in the 2026/27 MY amounted to almost 13 million tons.

At the same time, in monetary terms, exports of grains and oilseeds remained at the level of the previous season and amounted to $10 billion ($11.2 billion in 2024/25 MY), and taking into account processed products, in particular oils, cake and meal, it amounted to $18 billion ($18.1 billion in 2024/25 MY).

By crop, the following were exported:

  • wheat – 14 million tons (15.5 million tons in 2024/25 MY) worth $3 billion with a production of 22.5 million tons,
  • barley – 1.52 (2.25) million tons worth $325 million with a production of 4.9 million tons,
  • corn – 21 (21.5) million tons worth $4.6 billion with production of 31.1 million tons,
  • soybeans – 2.7 (3.8) million tons worth $1.04 billion with a harvest of 5 million tons,
  • rapeseed – 1.82 (3.2) million tons worth $1 billion with a harvest of 3.2 million tons,
  • sunflower – 35 thousand tons out of the collected 11 million tons, since processing, including transitional stocks, amounted to 10.5 million tons.

The sharp decline in oilseed exports is due to the introduction of export duties on rapeseed and soybeans, as well as a slight decrease in production.
