Strategie Grains experts have raised the forecast for the corn harvest in the EU in 2024/25 MR

Analysts of Strategie Grains increased the forecast of the corn harvest in the EU in 2024/25 MR by 0.2 to 58.1 million tons compared to previous estimates, which will still be inferior to last year's 62.9 million tons.
While Romania's harvest is expected to be lower than usual due to a prolonged drought, heavy rains in France (which made the wheat harvest the worst in 40 years) have boosted the development of maize crops, although they have delayed the harvest.
According to FranceAgriMer monitoring data, as of October 7 in France, corn has been harvested on 6% of the planned areas.
Strategie Grains experts left the forecast for wheat production in the EU at 114.4 million tons, which will be the lowest figure in the last 12 years, as long rains reduced the harvest in Germany and France. Accordingly, wheat exports from the EU will decrease to a 6-year low.
The forecast for the EU barley harvest has been raised by 0.1 to 50.6 million tons compared to September estimates, which indicates a gradual recovery of production after the 2023/24 season, which was the worst in the last 12 years.
