Egypt imported a record 5 million tons of soybeans in 2025, and in 2026, soybean imports could reach 5.5-6 million tons, said Abdul Aziz El Said, head of the poultry department of the Egyptian Chamber of Commerce.
The main reason for the increase in soybean imports was the development of poultry farming in the country and the expansion of soybean processing capacity.
At the same time, the expert recalled that soybeans are imported to Egypt by private, not state-owned companies.
