Egypt purchased 700,000 tons of soft wheat, and Algeria purchased 500,000 tons of durum wheat.

According to European traders, last week the Egyptian state agency Mostakbal Misr purchased about 700,000 tons of wheat under several private deals for delivery in January-February, which will be delivered from Bulgaria, Romania, France, Ukraine, and the Russian Federation.

Recall that in the previous tender, Mostakbal Misr purchased about 500 thousand tons of wheat from the Black Sea region for delivery in December-January, including 200 thousand tons from the Russian Federation, 150 thousand tons from Bulgaria, and over 130 thousand tons from Ukraine.

At the same time, the agency does not declare grain purchase prices.

Algerian state-owned company OAIC held a tender on December 23 to purchase at least 50,000 tons of durum wheat of any origin, Reuters reports.

The tender contracted 500-550 thousand tons of wheat at a price of $315/ton on a C&F basis with shipment on February 1-15 and 16-28, as well as March 1-15 and 16-31. Traders believe that part of the purchased wheat, which will be delivered on Handymax type vessels, will have a higher price - about $323-325/ton on a C&F basis.
