Bulgaria banned the import of sunflowers from Ukraine until the end of November

Bulgaria will not import Ukrainian sunflower until the end of November 2023, the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Farming reported.

The heads of the Ministries of Agricultural Policy of Bulgaria and Ukraine Kyrylo Vatyev and Mykola Solskyi agreed on the start of a regular exchange of data between the departments on trade in agricultural products, in particular on the export and import of certain agricultural products.

The Bulgarian minister also introduced his Ukrainian colleague to the Memorandum signed between the country's government and the farmers' committee, which provides for a ban on the import of sunflowers from Ukraine until the end of November. After that, in accordance with the plan agreed by Ukraine and the European Commission, the licensing regime for the export of Ukrainian sunflower, wheat, rapeseed and corn will begin to operate.

The Minister of Agriculture of Bulgaria said that the country's agrarians and processors are concerned about the import from Ukraine of refined and unrefined sunflower oil, dry milk, honey, sugar and frozen raspberries, therefore he insists on the need to jointly discuss the problems of agricultural producers and find solutions.
