Argentina boosts soybean and wheat crop forecasts due to high yields and improving production economics

The Rosario Grain Exchange (BCR) in its regular monthly report raised its soybean production forecasts for the 2025/26 MY harvest and wheat production forecasts for the 2026/27 MY harvest. The soybean harvest estimate was increased to 51.5 million tons, and the wheat production forecast was increased to 20 million tons.

The soybean harvest forecast was raised from the previous 50 million tons due to higher-than-expected yields in the country's main producing regions.

Argentina remains the world's largest exporter of soybean oil and soybean meal, with farmers having harvested 96% of the soybeans so far.

According to BCR, the current soybean production estimate is 9.5% higher than the initial forecast released at the beginning of the 2025/26 MY season.

Between May and June, the country's average soybean yield increased to 3.21 t/ha, which was the main factor in the upward revision of production forecasts.

The Rosaria Grain Exchange also improved its wheat harvest estimate for the 2026/27 season. The forecast was increased by 1–2 million tons due to improved profitability of crop cultivation and increased interest among farmers in expanding crops.

At the same time, the exchange reported that corn harvesting in Argentina is 55% complete. The forecast for corn production for the 2025/26 MY was left unchanged at a record level of 68 million tons.

The increase in soybean production estimates and the preservation of the record corn harvest forecast confirm the high potential of the Argentine agricultural sector and strengthen expectations of a significant supply of grains and oilseeds on the world market in the coming months.
