Argentina is actively increasing exports of sunflower, sunflower oil and meal amid a shortage of other offers

In 2026, Argentina significantly increased its exports of sunflower products, taking advantage of its deficit in the countries of the Northern Hemisphere, Oil World reports.

In the 2025/26 MY, sunflower exports increased compared to the corresponding period of the previous season from 35 to 846 thousand tons, of which 580 thousand tons were delivered to the EU, 162 thousand tons to Turkey, and 67 thousand tons to South Africa.

Sunflower oil exports grew by 55% to 963 thousand tons, with India and Egypt being the main buyers, while only 14 thousand tons were delivered to the EU.

Exports of sunflower meal increased by 72% to a record 1.06 million tons, with the main buyers being the EU countries and the United Kingdom.

In March alone, the country exported 323,000 tons of sunflower seeds, 211,000 tons of sunflower oil, and 230,000 tons of sunflower meal.

Experts believe that Argentina will sell most of its products by June, until the importing countries of the Northern Hemisphere begin harvesting their own crops.

Argentina is forecast to export 1.1 million tonnes of sunflower, 1.92 million tonnes of sunflower oil and 1.96 million tonnes of sunflower meal in 2025/26. Total sunflower exports will reach almost 5 million tonnes, compared to 2.9 million tonnes in 2024/25 and 2.4 million tonnes in 2023/24.
